The civil security base was inaugurated in March 2017 by the General Directorate for Civil Defence and Crisis Management (Direction Générale de la Sécurité Civile et de la Gestion des Crises, DGSCGC) of the French Ministry of the Interior. This base brings together all of France’s airborne resources for fighting forest fires and responding to major disasters.
The establishment of the base confirms the predominant place that the Nîmes Metropolitan area holds in terms of civil security.
